(See what I did there ^ Ehhh, ehhh. Moving on...)
My relationship with belongings is pretty dichotomous. Either I keep it forever or I throw it away the moment I realize I haven't used/needed/thought about it in a while. It all eventually amounts to clutter in my eyes. So color me overjoyed when I decided to shop my own closet and found this pair of overalls that I bought when I was fourteen and haven't worn since I was seventeen (to clarify, that makes the jumper about 10 years old so justtt entering the turbulent pre-teen years. I will care for it strictly but with understanding. #goodmama). Thanks be to having stopped developing at a super young age (student discounts for LIFE) and for forgetting about this sartorial catch, only to rediscover it a almost a decade later because it was the PERFECT piece for my weekend adventures. This Sunday I hit up the World Science Festival and was going for a Vogue-meets-archeologist look, so army green shorts overalls and daytime heels completed my wearable costume.
Post the World Science Festival, my crew and I headed over to the Mister Sunday party in Brooklyn. It's a fun outdoor event that happens on Sundays in Industry City. There's food, drinks, tables, a Dj, and a dancefloor and it's a great place to spend a gorgeous summer day (and night) with some buds. The party goes from 3pm - 9pm, but the scene was chill and more vibey than dancey until about 6 at night, so if you're looking for the boogieing Mister Sunday as opposed to the cider-drinking, taco-eating Mister Sunday, then head on over as the sun begins to set. It's $10 a ticket if you buy online beforehand or $15 at the door, 18 and over without a parent, all ages (and dogs!) welcome with a parent. The cover is worth it for the venue; a cool area between two gorgeous industrial buildings, near the water, wood dance floor, lights strung throughout and clean, nice bathrooms. Plus, the food and drinks are good and cheap inside so it all evens out in the end. But remember your dolla dolla bills ya'll because this party is CASH ONLY. I will definitely be returning to get down with Mister Sunday this summer, maybe next time outfitted as an astronaut-meets-go-go-dancer? CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.
