It's supposed to be a beautiful weekend in New York which of course means pool days and beach getaways. But don't think high temps and sand has to be the end of your killer summer style. In fact, it's a great opportunity to showcase it in a different way! So, here are my picks for a stand-out day at the beach or hanging poolside. Enjoy!
1. THE SUIT - J.Crew
Personally, I feel more comfortable in a one-piece or tankini. I never have to worry about a teen-movie-mishap occurring (wave got your top?), I can eat whatever I want (my food baby can grow to quite impressive rotundness), and what is it with all the bikini bottoms being "cheeky"? Sorry, but I like my cheeks covered while I'm playing beach volleyball thank-you-very-much. This one-piece is classic with its halter design and gorgeous blue seersucker, AND will cover your a$$ets no matter how much summer fun you're having.
2. THE SANDALS - MIA white gladiators via TJ Maxx (similar here)
A white gladiator sandal with gold accents is the perfect shoe if you're looking for something that's practical and fashionable. With a zipper closure, it's easy to take on and off but has a lot more going on than a plain flip flop. These can go from the beach to the boardwalk to the tiki bar.
3. THE SUNNIES - White (similar and possibly nicer here)
I like the Jackie O coolness of a simple pair of white sunglasses. These were $3 at gift shop and they look just like Ray Bans, what whattt.
4. THE SHADE - Straw Fedora (similar here)
Pretty self-explanatory. Keep that face in shade girl (say no to sun damage!).
5. THE TOWEL - Life Is Good Sun Sea You Me oversized towel
If the towel isn't oversized, the towel isn't mine. Nothing's worse at the beach than trying to stay cool and away from the scorching sand on a too-small towel. This one is super roomy, super soft, and with its bright colors and cute saying, it's one I enjoy laying out on.
6. THE SPF - Coppertone oil free SPF 30
7. THE BAG - Embellished straw bag (similar but without embellishment here)
It's pure luck that I have this colorful straw bag. Don't know where it's from, don't know how old it is, I nicked it from my sister when she was getting rid of it (one woman's donation is another woman's treasure).
