Listen, I know there are those of you out there who haven't even given a second thought to where your pumpkin pies and stuffing are coming from come Thursday. That there are those of you that haven't even thought about a grocery list, much less the idea of making a turkey (maybe for the first time?). Your first Thanksgiving can be pretty terrifying. You're expected to make HOW MUCH food? Why is a bird that big anyway?? Can't we all just buy wine and some cheese and call it a day? You could... but that might be a little anti-climatic.
Don't worry, I've got the lowdown on a few places that you can order Thanksgiving heat-and-serve meals from if you're located in NYC, and a few if you're not. Check out the easy-peasy, procrastinator approved places below.
- Whole Foods - Whole Foods doesn't have to equal Whole Paycheck for Thanksgiving. You can still order from your area's Whole Foods market and get an entire Thanksgiving meal for four for under $150.00. Sides are only $50, add in a Turkey, a pie and an inexpensive bottle of wine and you've got a meal. Doing Friendsgiving? You can split that between four and it's even cheaper.
- Boston Market - Hear me out. Yes, it's a massive chain. Yes, you probably haven't eaten here in years. But this place has Thanksgiving to go on lock, and that mac and cheese is so addicting, I bet you can just taste it right now. BM is a relatively inexpensive option, if you're splitting it with others, it's available almost everywhere, no matter where you're located and you can still order in time for the big day - huge pluses.
- Miss Lily's - If traditional Thanksgiving just isn't you're thing, or you want to break out of the box but go a late start then Miss Lily's is the answer for all your last second, non-traditional Thanksgiving needs in NYC. Known city-wide for their Jamaican specialties, pumped up with their house made jerk sauce, this Thanksgiving meal isn't short on spice. And there's always Melvin's Juice Box, with fresh pressed juices right around the corner, to undo the sins of Thanksgiving. Are you reading this ON Thanksgiving? Desperate to find some source of sustenance in your procrastination induced haze of hunger? No worries, you can still order and pick up for Thanksgiving parties under 8 people. Miss Lily's gets us.
- Laduree - Oh you fancy, huh? Don't even want to cook on Thanksgiving? Rather pretend you're in Paris? While the menu is a bit pricey at $75.00/pp, compared to the other options on this list, Laduree Soho has you covered with a menu featuring choices including scallops, truffle-laden offerings, foie gras and of course - macarons. Well worth the splurge, just for a special meal.
